Check out my latest NBC Clip on how to Eat to Beat Stress here.
There is a correction. I incorrectly stated that leptin levels go up when we don’t get enough sleep…they actually decrease. Leptin is a hormone that makes you feel full. So lack of sleep definitely makes you gain weight, or at least increase your appetite, but just wanted to get the hormone directions accurate!
Either way, get your Vitamin ZZZZZZZ.

So we know it’s a problem, now what? Find the solutions here right now!

After The Cure: A personal essay on a personal journey
October 1, 2008
Here’s an article I wrote for the Philadelphia Women’s Journal on my healing from cancer. It was the first time I wrote about my experience in its entirety. Writing it was emotional but therapeutic.
I hope anyone who reads it walks away understanding there is a big difference between curing and healing. Curing a disease is stopping the physical deterioration. Healing is finding the meaning and the strength to use trauma constructively…without losing your sense of humor about the whimsical nature of life.

Curious about the connection between your health and your productivity on the job? Or the effectiveness of your team?
Check out the latest research in an article I wrote for the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce:
Woody Allen said, “80% of life is showing up.” If you want to succeed in business however, this can’t be true for your employees. Today’s global marketplace demands more; yet businesses in the United States are pooling from a population with decreasing productivity and health. Of the U.S. workforce:
- 60% are overweight
- 60% are at risk for diabetes, cancer and heart disease
- 145 million people are living with chronic diseases
So what do Woody Allen and “showing up” have to do with your company?
Everything.
“Presenteeism” refers to productivity loss resulting from employees “showing up” with “benign” health problems such as more.
