I am passionate about health and wellness. This is probably due to the fact that I was sick for a large part of my childhood. Here is my resume from about the age of five to age 27: surgery for a lazy eye, severe asthma, overweight, pesticide poisoning, cancer, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and depression.

Through all of this, I was able to see how my sickness was related, that emotional health manifests itself physically, and the importance of simple changes in taking control of my health.  I no longer go from doctor to doctor and instead have learned that I am my own best healer. The medical community is amazing for crisis, but if I do my part, I will never get there again.  And now, at age 30, I’m healthier than I’ve ever been in my life. And when I mean healthy, I mean really living the life of my dreams, not just free of disease.

I married all of this experience, plus my ceaseless fascination, respect, and wonder of the human body (and I mean the whole body – mind, body and spirit) and my education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition/Columbia University Teacher’s College, to become a certified health counselor.

I work with people and businesses who want to reboot their lives and companies through the power of nutrition. And I am not talking about government food pyramid nutrition. No way – that’s too political and boring for me. I am talking about integrative nutrition. It is about how food changes everything. When you change what you eat, you have more energy, optimism and confidence. All of a sudden, you have higher expectations for your life. And that is when the fun begins!

I have been featured on the NBC 10! Show, the Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Women’s Journal, and Phlare magazine. I am also a professional speaker and workshop presenter where I perform speaking engagements all over the country spreading the truth on nutrition and how to be healthy.

I love spending time with family, going to the farmers market with my wonderful boyfriend, Carlos, cooking for and with friends, learning, solving problems related to world peace, yoga, traveling and watching Pittsburgh Steelers – and now that I’ve been in Philly five plus years – Eagles football.

I am currently at the University of Pennsylvania completing a Masters in Organizational Dynamics program with a concentration in Coaching and Change Management.  My other formal schooling includes graduating with honors from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition/ Columbia University’s Teachers College as well as completing my undergraduate degree at Penn State University (where I was a geek in the Schreyer Honors College).  I think smart is sexy; especially when it comes to making decisions about your health!

I am an ex-Corporate prisoner but managed to do some joyful things during my “cube” time. I am most proud of creating and establishing a corporate wellness program for General Electric. It became a best practice and was replicated around the business.

Through my clients, my Masters work, and how I live my life, I am supporting the change I want to see in our current “health-care” system. We have a long way to go until it changes from disease to wellness care, but if my clients are any proof, it can be done – and in a fun way. Come join us!
